Emotional Noise

Have you ever heard the saying...

CLUTTER IS LIKE EMOTIONAL NOISE

I have been chipping away at all my clutter.  I do not have an elaborate system, but I do have motivation...and that is key.

Styling my Autumn Hutch

Displaying my silverware in a flower vase...
easy access, while reminding me to use enjoy the silverware more often.

Decorating for the season can be simple.
I never find decorating to be a hassle or burdensome.  If I did, I simply would not decorate.  Right?

Autumn Changes

Joining Like Mother, Like Daughter for some pretty, happy, funny and real times...
~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

{pretty}
This pretty white rose is from my the garden.  My mom is now taking great care of the plants.  She enjoys cutting the flowers and bringing them into the house.
I love that.
What a difference a little flower can make in a room.

Easter, Home & Garden

Joining Like Mother, Like Daughter for some pretty, happy, funny & real times...

{pretty}

This year, Easter seems to be pretty quiet.  It feels as though I am missing something...

Maybe I just need to learn to be at peace with some quiet...?   Anyhow...

We have been busy with other plans...future plans.  Easter, after all, is a time of new beginnings, of hope and of new life.

There are signs of new life all around us.  Even in this terrible drought we are experiencing, there is still growth and new life.

{happy}

It is time to make some Creamy Potato and Leek Soup...this makes everyone happy.

{funny}

Some bathroom beauty...if that is possible.  New curtains and fun way to display the unmentionables.

{real}

This is one sad chandelier.  It has been sitting and waiting to be hung in the girls bathroom for years.  Years!  One excuse after another..."I need to paint first...""I need to find the right hanging tool...""I'll have time this summer..."
Tomorrow...

Oh, yes!  One more real...scary-real...awaiting in my garden.  Time to trim back the overgrowth around the borders...

It was about 5 - 6 ft. long.  About the size when it changes from a reptile to a mammal!  This creature was enormous and vile.  Although, strangely beautiful with its color & pattern...blech!

And so, to not leave on an unpleasant note:

Popcorn:  {Look what that big dog did to my ball!}

Hospitality.

Having my guests feel at home...
Treating my guests with warmth...

surrounding them with loveliness...

finding the perfect setting, in simplicity...
where peace can be found.

Using what I have, or sharing things that were given to me...

 Making my guests feel welcome...that's Hospitality.
The perfect nook to read a book.

{happy}

A visit to a book sale at my local library...happy!
There is no question, we hit the MOTHER LODE.  I could hardly contain myself as I scooped up all these beauties.  And among all my new found treasures was my very favorite, in rare vintage, preserved so well...

Someone had gifted it, Christmas 1900.  1900!

We came home with bags and bags of lovely vintage books.  Oh yes, HAPPY.

More, happy.
Some vintage, some not.  All make me happy.

HEAVEN or HELL?

A converted Corn Hole game...throwing the seven deadly sins into HELL.

And then there is the HEAVENLY game of Halos on the Saints...

 A lot of creative parents; the children had lots of fun!
Of course, the Saints Jars were also played...

{real}

Butterfly shared a prayer card that she found while cleaning out her closet.
On one side is a picture of All Saints in Heaven.
On the other side of the card, reads:

SURPRISE IN HEAVEN

I dreamt death came, the other night

And Heaven's gate swung wide,
An Angel with halo bright
Ushered me inside.

And there!  To my astonishment.
Stood folks I'd judged and labeled;
As "quite unfit", "of little worth";
And "spiritually disabled".

Indignant words rose to my lips,
But never were set free,
For every face showed stunned surprise ---

Not one expected ME!

Speaking of saints...my children and I were privileged to view and venerate 165 relics through Treasures of the Church.

What are relics?  Read about it, here.

I will share this one picture:
A Fragment of Mary's Veil
De Velo (from the Veil)

OK, this one too:

Which other relics did we see?

All of these, here.

What a perfect experience, so close to All Saints Feast Day.

~ Boys & Toys ~

Conductor at work
 I just love my two men!  They are always SO good about keeping things maintained around the yard (& house)...always fixing & improving.  What a team!

They are amazing - both in designing and building new places of beauty, all for the family to enjoy.

Conductor's Toy

Toys, toys, toys
Of course, with all this manly work, several toys tools are needed...

...I'm good with this;  Hmmm, come to think of it, I have several toys tools in the kitchen.  ;o)

Besides, they always get the job done - and it's always top notch.
