Last Year, 2016, I had an Epiphany to use the New Year to resolve to do better, and make a change for the better. The Epiphany is when the Magi set out to find the Christ Child...Following the path to Christ. That's what resolutions ultimately are...
So as I set out this New 2017 Year, I resolve to do my best to search out Christ in everything and everyone and follow Him in every way, bringing Him my gifts.
"Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to thy will." ~ Luke 1:38

Celebrating the New Year
Wow! 2017. Hello!
![]() |

| Fun Favors of chocolates and holy cards |

The tables and ceiling were decorated with a lot of silvery-gold twinkly-bling.
We had about 100 guests...including the five families that helped plan and organize, decorate and serve...
I love this backdrop...Merry Christmas!
The noodles and rice and side dishes were SO DELICIOUS...not to mention the hand-made desserts...

| There were so many wonderful desserts hand-made by one of the teens...THANK YOU, "L" |
And the celebration wouldn't be the same without the traditional roasted pig...
Everything was amazing and delicious and much fun was had by all...

Welcome 2016!
My Word
My Prayer
"Hail Mary, poor and humble Woman, Blessed by the Most High! Virgin of hope, dawn of a new era, We join in your song of praise, to celebrate the Lord’s mercy, to proclaim the coming of the Kingdom and the full liberation of humanity.
Hail Mary, lowly handmaid of the Lord, Glorious Mother of Christ! Faithful Virgin, holy dwelling-place of the Word, Teach us to persevere in listening to the Word, and to be docile to the voice of the Spirit, attentive to his promptings in the depths of our conscience and to his manifestations in the events of history.
Hail Mary, Woman of sorrows, Mother of the living! Virgin spouse beneath the Cross, the new Eve, Be our guide along the paths of the world. Teach us to experience and to spread the love of Christ, to stand with you before the innumerable crosses on which your Son is still crucified.
Hail Mary, woman of faith, First of the disciples! Virgin Mother of the Church, help us always to account for the hope that is in us, with trust in human goodness and the Father’s love. Teach us to build up the world beginning from within: in the depths of silence and prayer, in the joy of fraternal love, in the unique fruitfulness of the Cross.
Holy Mary, Mother of believers, Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us."
Amen.
~ Pope John Paul II's prayer to Our Lady of Lourdes (2004)

PRIORITIES
That is it.
Plain and simple and to the point.
The word I chose to help steer my 2015 year.
There are a lot of good and wonderful works to be done...but there are certainly more important things to be done. My vocation as a wife, mother, and teacher to my children are my top PRIORITIES. One or all of those three supersede anything else.
I have been very busy getting our activities on the calendar. I have heard it said that 'priorities are the steering wheels of life.'
Prioritize. It is a word that works well with SIMPLIFY.
Simplify is a word my husband and I adopted years ago, and continue to use, to help run our household and day to day planning.
I have also heard, "The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities." ~ Stephen Covey YES!!!
In addition to my 'word of the year' I have been praying about my resolutions...My thoughts about RESOLUTIONS.

I love this quote by Socrates.
I love the chance at a New Beginning...

~ Twelve Days, One New Year ~
~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday at Like Mother, Like Daughter
{pretty}
A group of friends got together and we threw an
OLD FASHIONED NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION!
So much fun!!!

| Conductor counting down and orchestrating the balloons drop |
We began the evening with Holy Mass and thanksgiving devotions.
Everyone dressed up, and brought their favorite hors d'oeuvres.
We feasted on a roasted pig; toasted in the New Year with sparkles & bubbles; learned to swing dance; and ate the most elegant and delicious cake.
We basically had a REALLY GREAT (FRIENDS & FAMILY) TIME!
{happy}
Celebrating the Twelve Days of Christmas:
the feasts between Christmas Day and the Epiphany...
Because Christmas is just too important to be confined to only one day.
{funny}
maraschino eyes...
{real}
It is time to stop indulging in all the celebratory practices and get on with my resolutions.
Go to Like Mother, Like Daughter to find more contentment...

After hesitating to join any of the wonderful year end Link-Ups (because, truly, I have no "best" or "most" because at BEST, it is MOSTLY really, really quiet here...), and I've been enjoying reading the Most Post of 2014 over at Amongst Lovely Things (I just love the blog's name)...
OK. What the heck...I'm throwing this together...here goes...
